Chris & Nina
Chris Matthews came to the Valley from Tucson when he joined KMLE in 2014. Always a glutton for punishment, Chris doesn’t shy away from the fact that he’s a UofA Wildcat representing up in Sun Devil country. His career in radio has included stops in Tucson as well as Boise, ID. While in Boise, Chris was named ‘Best Personality in Idaho’ for three straight years (although they only spelled his name correctly once). In November 2015, Chris joined Nina D to host mornings on KMLE 107.9. Chris lives in Gilbert with his wife Rosey, their two kids Eve and Harvey, a lazy dog and a mean cat.Initially Nina was set on becoming a television news anchor, but after a chance meeting (she was trying to win a Sega game system) with KPWR radio personality Big Boy in Los Angeles 18 years ago, radio became her dream. In college, Nina studied literature and creative writing by day and worked in radio every other chance she could. After stints at WRAS in Atlanta and KDHT in Austin, Nina made the move to Phoenix in 2007. Making the move from afternoons to mornings, Nina says she feels right at home with Chris Matthews. Nina is currently studying to get yoga teacher certification and resides in Scottsdale with her two dogs and fiancé Dean who is the official DJ for the Phoenix Suns.
Badger Gabe started in radio at the age of 15, and 17 years later he’s still having fun and loving life at the New KMLE @ 107.9. Badger Gabe spent the majority of his radio life in Wisconsin as a Cheesehead, with a brief stop in Minneapolis for college. In October 2016, Badger Gabe became the morning show producer for Chris & Nina! Gabe is currently single, on a weight loss mission to get healthy, and is searching for the best beef jerky in the United States!!
Natasha was born in San Diego; home schooled in North Carolina and lived like a wild child in Tijuana. One dream was always consistent… music has always been number one in her life. Her mom loved to wake them up with early Saturday morning anthems to start cleaning the house. Natasha and her sister were scrubbing toilets and dusting the living room to all types of music. Everything from, Outkast, Alejandro Sainz, Taylor Dayne, Tupac,Fleetwood Mac, Grupo Limite, Prince. She remembers receiving a karaoke machine and recording ‘Jammin Z90’ radio mixes. She spent countless hours recording over the same tape; writing down the lyrics to Alicia Keys “You Don’t Know My Name” in a black composition notebook. She was 14 years old when I fell in-love with radio.Fast forward to the big move to Phoenix where she stumbled upon a radio internship at KKFR. She interned for a year then got hired on as a promotions assistant and she knew right there that there was no “plan B”. While working as a PA, she continued to intern for “The Gello Show”, “The Bootleg Kev Show” & “REDY Set Radio” with a couple of on-air cameo’s here and there. Her ultimate unicorn moment happened when I landed my first on air weekend shift on both KKFR & KVIB; the rest was history. Natasha landed her first full time offer at LIVE 101.5 in 2014 working as the afternoon host! From there it was a wrap! Fast forward 2 years later, she was offered the opportunity to dive into the world of country music as the night host on the New KMLE @ 107.9.
